Scott Brothers Duo (Jonathan & Tom Scott) perform an evening programme of duos for the rarely heard combination of harmonium and piano. This was one of the most popular chamber combinations in the nineteenth century and the powerful yet expressive sound of the harmonium led to some of the greatest original compositions by the most famous composers, including Franck, Guilmant and Saint-Saëns, as well as many orchestral transcriptions. This evening we are lucky to have an original Mustel harmonium which was made in Paris in 1880, to join forces with a Steinway piano, creating a rare opportunity to hear these masterpieces
performed as they were intended.
